It's been awhile

I have recently discovered that I am just not that cool to have a Blog. Obviously since I have no posts in the last 6 months.

I am not sure if my lack of “blogging” has to do with the fact that; in my opinion have nothing of interest to Blog about. I have no husband/family/kids/or boyfriend, so I have no cute baby to write about, nor do I have any trips to discuss as well.

Or perhaps I do not Blog because I seem to not have the time. I am now writing this from work, ah yes, I am sure the great city of Sandy would be happy to know I am spending time blogging instead of reading Police reports. OR, maybe it stems from my issue with talking about myself in a way that makes me sound like a stuck up chick.

I think I need serious Blog help! Perhaps I need to rewind 27 days and make a New Year’s Resolution to Blog more. So here it goes…

Well, I guess, for those of you that actually ever read this or care...I can write about my recent stint at the 2009 Sundance Film Festival.

It's my second year volunteering and I have decided that I have become, to quote a fellow volunteer, Lisa, "hooked." My volunteering all takes place at the absolutely beautiful Rose Wagner Theater on 300 South and 200ish West! I choose this particular venue for many reasons. First, I love this theater, always have! Back in the high school dance company days, I had the pleasure of not only taking amazing classes by their in house choreographers, but Judge (my HS) was able to perform a few times there. Second, it's not Park City. You are probably thinking right now, "Hello, Park City is where the stars are." I have decided that I do not do this because I want to become a "star stalker." In fact, I really could care less. Now saying that, the fact that I did get to meet Kevin Bacon
and drool over Dominic Cooper (an obscure British actor that I have grown to love) was a treat, but honestly, Park City is just too much work for me. My poor little 1998 Nissan can’t even make it up small hills, let alone a canyon and to be honest, I just do not want to do the whole Park City thing.

The parking, the shuttling, the crowds…no thank you. I am quite content at my little Salt Lake Theater. I take TRAX, it drops me a block and a half away from the Rose, I don’t have to deal with much hassle. Plus I get to make a pit stop at the Beehive Tea room and anyone who knows my knows, I love Tea.

Oh yeah, I LOVE the films!!! This is why I like the atmosphere in SLC for Sundance. The people attending are here for that reason only. No stars, no press, just films!!

This years stand out films (for me anyway) were An Education, (http://festival.sundance.org/2009/film_events/films/education), No Impact, an amazing documentary about a family testing whether making zero environmental impact adversely affects happiness. Obviously there are too many to list, but Push, Afghan Star, Mary and Max, and this hilarious British film, In the Loop, are some favs of mine!

Where was I? Oh yeah, why I like the Rose. The people, staff, and fellow volunteers pretty much sum it up. It was nice to see some familiar faces this year. Alexi, Charlie, Lisa, Jen, Mark...too name a few. These guys are awesome! Lisa is a hoot! She is a fellow 'coffee-a-holic" and supplies us with her $10 Wal-Mart "Sundance" coffee maker as well as amazing soups. We all bring treats and snacks, Jen is a Vegan and brings in amazing recipes and treats!

Anyway, to sum up this, I know I will continue to volunteer as long as I can!

Blogging doesn't have to be about anything... obviously since you've visited my blog. There are many days that I write about nothing at all...somedays I do write about issues, and sometimes it's just a rant.

Thanks for the soup compliment. BPS is my favorite. We need to get together some day soon. I can drive to Sandy & we could do lunch on your break.

Nice pic of you and "The Bacon", by the way. Rawr..........

Oh, yeah, my friends & I play this weird game, it's called "Captcha Sniglets", you have to write your word verification in at the end of your comment and then give it a definition. Here is mine:

Unsca: Derived from an obscure Nordic form of Pig Latin, this word means "One", as in "Unsca, Twosca, Treesca, drinksca" (One, two three drink!)

Have a great day!
